We had something like this happen about ten years ago. We were on our way home from Savannah one evening when we received a call from a neighbor. She said the rain, lightening and wind was so bad she thought a tornado was coming. We hurried home and found my husbands work shop that was under construction had been lifted and moved about ten feet from it's foundation. The shop landed on our wells pressure tank. We had water spraying every where. The strange thing is that we didn't lose power. We also live in your area and all it takes a tree limb to bump a line for it to go out. Our insurance adjuster came out the next day. He specialized in storm damaged. He said we most likely had what was called a micro burst. The force of the rain pushes down so hard that the air around it was forced down as well. We had several trees that were broken off and twisted at the tops also.
I'm no weather expert but I'm sure of one thing God had you looking at his sunset instead of being at home.
You could call WTOC and ask Pat for some help. Good Luck!!
