Scary, Scary stuff. Well, people wanted change and they got it. This is what happens when people get caught up in the hype and don't do any research on the candidates, their backgrounds or the records of accomplishments while in office.
This guy scares me too, especially when you see his own party fracturing around him. We need a leader that can lead with personal agendas aside.
God bless/help America.
Charlie Johnson
When only one or two media outlets tried to bring all this out along with Obama's raciest pastor of 20 years, they were all labeled racists and race batters.
We basically have a smooth talking Jessie Jackson as President.
I don't think quotes from a book demostrate one ability to lead. Can you explain the comment "We need a leader that can lead with a personal agendas aside"? Every leader in Richmond Hill has a personal agenda, rather you are on the school board or any other elected position. If research was done and reported correctly, there would be a whole lot of leaders unemployed. What is scary is ones personal opinion in tough times.
Mr. Johnson,
The above comments were a forwarded email (May 2008) reproducing some passages taken from Barack Obama's two books-Dreams from My Father (1995) and The Audacity of Hope- with the presumed intent of presenting President Obama as self racist. However, these cherry-picked statement are all presented devoid of context, and some them are reworded from the original (or apparently non-exisent). So maybe you might want to read those books first before you make a comment. Those books should be at your local library, then again maybe not.
bluestreak,
I appreciate your advice, but disagree with your misguided opinion that "Every leader in Richmond Hill has a personal agenda". You don't have the facts to proclaim that (that I KNOW).
I have no interest in buying and reading anything that President Obama has written. The comments I made, I stand behind. The passages reflected in the original blog are scary. People did want change and they got it. I believe that many people voted on hype and charisma rather than experience and political record. I don't believe that many people looked into his extensive 2 year record in the Senate and reviewed his voting record and/or the bills he introduced.
I think his inexperience and questionable judgment has been the catalyst that has his democratic friends stepping away from him as well as his popularity nose diving.
America is the greatest country on earth. We have brave young men and women willing to sacrifice for our freedoms......and our right to choose our leaders. Our responsibility to those brave enough to serve is to do our best to choose the leader with experience, judgment, and ability to unite and lead the most powerful nation on earth. We do that with research and committment to get the best so we all can win.

As pointed out above, the words that are in this mass produced email gain entirely different meanings when placed in the context of the surrounding paragraphs. That doesn't even account for the "quotes" that do not appear in the book and were not written or said by President Obama. It serves no good purpose to the political discourse in this country to repeatedly forward intentionally misleading out of context statements. Feel free to peruse the quotes (again except for the ones that are not actual quotes) in this snopes posting and you might understand them a little better. While there is no problem with disagreeing with the President's politics, there really is no reason for inflaming racial and religious prejudice where it does not belong.
Azul Falcon,
I certainly hope that you don't feel that my comments have anything to do with race, because they don't. The President's race doesn't have anything to do with his judgment and decision making. I just do not agree with President Obama's politics and am concerned with his lack of experience. It wouldn't matter to me if he were pink with green hair and gold eyes as long as he leads this country in a way that ensures the american people are safe, free, and prosperous.
Charlie Johnson
No I didn't interpret your statements as having to do with race. As I said, it is perfectly legitimate to disagree with somebody's politics. That is what I interpreted your statements to reflect. The creator of the mass email in 2008 was clearly trying to inflame racial and religious prejudice by taking these quotes out of context, and I guess I would consider it reckless at best for the original poster to repost these out of context quotes.
Obama's indecision in faith and race are obvious. He struggles with an answer when questioned about these topics. So far Obama has only proven to me that he is a good speaker and photographs well. How can we trust in him to safeguard our country and hold our economy together. Men and women who are motivated by their faith and good character who voted or did not vote for him have justfied concerns.
"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." -Total Fiction!
This is a corruption of a quote from Obama's book The Audacity of Hope. It is from a section that talks about the concerns of immigrants who are American citizens.
"I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race." -Total Fiction!
This quote does not exist in either of Obama's books.
This is an eRumor and taken out of context.
Summary of the eRumor:
A collection of quotes from two books written by Senator Barack Obama that try to highlight his attitudes about race and Islam.
The Truth:
All but two of the quotes seem to be accurate, but are taken out of context.
One of the quotes does not exist and the one about Islam is fabricated.
Also, whoever constructed this eRumor claims that some of the quotes are from a book by Obama titled Dreams of My Father. The actual title of Obama's book is Dreams From my Father.
Mr. Johnson, your first comment about this obvious bit of incorrect propaganda that you take those comments as gospel frighten me. Your refusal to find out if they were out of context by either reading his (President Obama) book or even doing research that this could be a lie is appalling. It bothers me that I voted for such a man that would take what the extemists spread as lies and poison as fact.
I may have to rethink the next election if my local leaders show such lack of curiosity for the truth regardless of who the lie may be about.
You've upset me greatly, Mr. Johnson, for your lack of open mind that the above quotes are
wrong. Very, very disappointed in you of all people.
