To the one I'm with I offer my love and my time.
I give all of my heart, my soul and my mind.
And all that I need, all that I'll ever ask
is for reciprocation if it is to ever last.
I am at best kind, gentle, timid and sweet.
Sometimes as clumsy with my words as with my feet!
If something I may say just doesn't come out right
remember I'm true to my feelings but not always bright!
My light bulb flickers at times, caught in life's desires
and the holes I've dug are my life's quagmire.
So if you happen to see me about with shovel in hand
I'm not digging a hole, I'm filling one with sand.
The shovel is my heart that I carry so openly.
The hole is the abyss of the tattered soul within me.
The sand is the sack of life I attempt to carry,
hoping to fill the holes; then it won't be so heavy.
So don't dispair if at times you cannot read
my face or my actions or what's inside of me.
It is wrapped up, in all that life gives
and sometimes that a lot, so I have to adlib.
