Goodbye to Quality Schools

Take Me To Post Comment Form

When my wife and I moved to the Savannah area 15 years ago we chose to move to Richmond Hill for one reason only... the quality of the school system. Every realtor we spoke to steered us to south Bryan County. "Do you really want to live in Savannah and pay for private school?". Our collective response was NO!!! We have 1 child who has graduated from the Bryan County school system and 2 who are currently enrolled. We have been extremely satisfied with our decision until now.
Over the last two years my wife and I have witnessed a mass exodus of the very teachers who made our school system what it is today. They are being replaced with new teachers who have little to no experience. Why are we not retaining our proven commodity which has made our community the envy of everyone north of the Ogeechee? Is this a budget cutting effort? They are being replaced with less experienced individuals. We cannot afford to lose these quality educators. Our children's future is at risk. My wife and I hope that our elected officials on the board of education are taking notice.
