Floyd. You can still voice your opinion, agree or disagree, you don't have to know the bloggers identity. Your opinion as a city councilman is important to all of us. Just tell us what you think and let the community of bloggers and the other readers decide for their selves.
Agree Fish1 and JMcCray. Look at the many surveys companys use, and specify your identity is not required (ex. Memorial Medical Center). I received a survey in the mail about a visit to the emergency room, and the first line reads "Your identity is not required". Sometimes problems/issues can be solved more proficiently.
I am going to disagree just a bit. I have been blogging for awhile now...I built and maintain three and am a contributor on several others. On these blogs, you will find every way imaginable to get in contact with me and 90% of the people that leave comments. If you go through my blogroll and visit the others that maintain their own blogs, you will no doubt be able to contact them as well.
If you wish to maintain you anonymity, that is by all accounts your right. But, if a person is being persecuted, do they not have the right to know who their opponent is?
And JMCCray is absolutely right. Anything you read on the net should be carefully evaluated as it is seeped in opinion. As for myself, the first step in that evaluation is the source. If I don't know the source, how can I begin to determine validity and weight? And even if I could start, how far can I really get?
Floyd, I think you are missing the point of blogging. In a blog, you can write freely about what you think on various issues, without fear of reprisal from co-workers, neighbors, friends, etc. It does not lessen the value of the opinion; it merely protects the writer. And, as with anything you read on the Internet, any "facts" you come across should be verified independently before being accepted as the gospel truth.
PS: Welcome to the world of Blogging. Nice to have someone on city government on the blog site. Now we have someone that can respond to questions regarding the city. Happy Blogging.
PRETTY PICTURE!
You Sure Look Better Than The "MERLE HAGARD WANNA-BE" MAYOR!
Are You In "REHEARSAL" Mode?
Rumor Has It You Are Mayor Davis' Hand Picked Boy To Run...?
Floyd that's not the way the country is run.
Nor is YOU telling US what we should do.
There is a reason on voting day that you pull the little curtain and don't have to sign your name to the ballot.
That being said, if you're going to dictate how people should blog, then I certainly don't want you in any position of power.
Feel free to post your name and address , etc... But, don't tell me what to do.
Floyd, I happen to agree somewhat with what you are saying. I understand the need for saying things openly without the feeling of being ridiculed...that's what blogging is for...but when blogging is misused for slander...that's when the person should stand up and be made to show their identity...like That_Woman shows that she is Linda Morse on her profile. She spews her guts in her blog and then you can find out who she is after she slanders everyone.
igoogle .....maybe you've "googled" too much. Try spending more time in the real world.
Get actively & openly involved with our community, to bring "open" government to Bryan County, to make change for the better instead of continuing to feed the "fat cats".
If it's true it is not slander. Take a better look at what's really going on with a few of our "leaders" and you'll be as fed up as I am. Obviously my name is there voluntarily. Where's yours as you spew nastily at my name ?! Send me what you think is "slander" and I'll gladly send you documentation.
