First of all I want to make sure that everyone knows that I AM NOT writing this as a member of the Bryan County Board of Education and my views DO NOT represent the views of any other member of the Bryan County BOE.I AM EXPRESSING MY OPINION AS A PRIVATE CITIZEN, A TAXPAYER THAT RESIDES IN RICHMOND HILL.

I think we all want what we feel is best for our city. Some want it to grow, create jobs and create tax revenue, others want it to stay small, homey, quiet and peaceful. We don't all agree on the same future Richmond Hill or who is best suited to move us forward. I know that when I first moved here the phrases that I heard the most were "That ain't how we do things around here" and "No, We ain't never done it that way before, no need to change". Very discouraging things to hear in 2011.

Either way, we need people leading our city that believe in change. Change that leads to constant improvement in our city, the services it provides and the leadership that makes it happen. Politics should be about service to the community, not just winning. Service should mean sacrificing your personal desires and ensuring you pursue the desires of the people you serve. I believe that there should be term limits to EVERY elected office as I believe that "tenureship" breeds "ownership" which leads to a lack of accountability.

We need accountability and leaders that we can trust to ALWAYS represent OUR best interest. I think that the City Council, like all elected bodies, is due for an overhaul and the time is now. Let's see if new blood can help our City Council work more like a team.

Please note: There are those that attempt to spin any/all opinions I post as "Attacks" on others. This is not intended as nor is it an actual attack on any candidate. Please note the references "any","all" and "every". I simply cannot make it any clearer and easy to understand.

Thank you Charlie for all you have done as a Bryan County school board member. You are a class act, straight shooter, and a tireless advocate for your constituents. Sorry to see you leave for DC. Hope you keep your house in Richmond Hill so you can return to continue to serve this community in some capacity. Again, thank you and best of luck inside the beltway.

Thank you for your kind comments and the priviledge of serving the community as a member of the BOE.

Eastwooding or Americaning
September 05, 2012
The appearance of Clint Eastwood at the RNC turned out to be much more than a Hollywood gimmick to get votes. At 82 years old, appearing weathered and feeble, talking to an empty chair, no teleprompter, most felt like "Dirty Harry" had dove in over his head. The truth is ...

Elections
October 24, 2011
I have been asked by several people how I feel about the upcoming elections for city council and the people running. I say that if you like the decisions that are being made and the way money is allocated then don't change, give the incumbents another term. However, if you ...

Seafood Festival
October 16, 2010
While watching workmen erect the portable stage to be used by the bands playing at our Annual Seafood Festival, I couldn't help but wonder if our $800,000.00 (or so) amphitheater would get in the way of the audience. Come on Mayor, City Council, do something that will allow our "investment" ...

Just a Thought.....
August 16, 2010
I don't know about you, but I think that Brunch and "Drinks on the Veranda" does compete with our local dining establishments and really shouldn't be considered. But.....if you had an outdoor stage buffet and Brunch/Drinks on the Grassy Knoll at the new Amphitheater; Now THAT would be an event! ...
