Sunny, you are so right!
I sure would have liked to se Romney up there... what a good and strong man! But McCain will make us proud! Heaven forbid if anything else happens!
The unemployment rate from the last known statistics in April show it at 5.0%, whereas a year ago it was at 4.5%. In June of 1998, it was at 4.5%. Looking over the historical information, the unemployment rate doesn't really fluctuate much anyway, so that's not a really huge indicator of how bad/good the Bush administration is doing.

The total for US homeownership has been steadily dropping since a peak in 2004 (69%). Minority homeownership HAS dropped since the first quarter of 2007 where for black only it was at 48% and Hispanic at 50.1%, and as of the first quarter of 2008 it is at 47.1% and 48.9%. Looks like a drop to me, and I think we all know what's going on with foreclosures.

I'm not going to comment on the stock market because I honestly don't know anything about it. That will require more research on my part. As far as the gas thing, I'm just going to say that Bush and Cheney both have ties to the oil business (and our VP not only was offered over 30 million dollars upon his resignation from the oil company for which he worked when he was asked to be VP, he took it and kept it). I'm also not going to mention the lack of government funding of finding alternative energy sources.
The Obama-Pakistan quote, which you so wonderfully took out of context, says he wants to go after high-value Al Queda targets in that country. Wasn't that the first reason for us entering the present war? Going after terrorists and Osama in Afghanistan? Then I believe we Americans were told Saddam, who had nothing to do with the original reason we went into Afghanistan, had WMD in his country so off we go to Iraq. Then it was found no such things existed. I went to college, but if you would like to explain to me why we're in Iraq and thousands of our young people have died for a lie our government told us, and you can give me references, then I'll promise to rethink that. I recall we were going after Osama, then there were the non-existent WMD in Iraq, and now we stay because Iraq would implode if we left.
President Bush has never, EVER owned up to the fact that his "intelligence" information was incorrect. If I'm wrong, then show me the quote where he actually owns up to it.
Where do you get your information that Obama wants to "give Afghanistan to Al Queda"? Here's a link to the copy of a speech that spells out Senator Obama's thoughts on what we should do: http://www.barackobama.com/2007/08/01/th...

I'll discuss the Israel/Palestine issue when you show me you understand it, and not just what you think Obama says.
Senator Obama has said repeatedly that the country does not have the resources to support illegal immigrants, that he will NOT extend aid to illegals. A lot of welfare is state-based anyway, so he wouldn't have any power to deal with that. He wants to fix the way the US deals with immigrants so they can be legal. As far as "buying" votes with giving welfare to illegals, they are not eligible to receive aid or vote anyway so it's a moot point.

Support those who support the enemy? What?
This whole "speech" isn't even amusing. It's insulting to those of us that love our country. It's insulting to be called names even if it is satire.
President Bush was a cocaine addict in the 80's, and even pled guilty to DUI charges in 1976. You all sure now how to keep that quiet. He was a C average student at Yale who's extracurricular activities involved sports and not any sort of student politics. His previous experience in government was as governor of Texas. Oh, and he was part-owner of the Texas Rangers. Very part-owner.
Senator Obama may be "just" a junior senator, but he went to Columbia where he received his B.A. in 1983. After working as a community organizer for three years in Chicago, he entered Harvard Law School in 1988 where he not only graduated magna cum laude but was also president of the Harvard Law Review. He served on the board to help disadvantaged people and communities receive grants, and he taught law part-time at University of Chicago until elected senator in 2004.
Um, yea...So did you read this "speech" before you cut and paste it here from another site? It took me about an hour to write my rebuttal, with actual research, just so you know. :)
Scarfyrre,
If you would bother to read her entire blog, it states at the beginning that this written by someone in Maine, therefore it makes no sense to criticize her for her research or lack thereof.
As for your hour long, Barack controlled website filled, defense of Obama, isn't it great that you have the freedom to state your stance on the issues? Until George W. Bush, they did not have that freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. They now have five times as many functioning hospitals and schools that they had before President Bush. Girls are now allowed to attend school and never again will over 500,000 people be murdered by a tyrannical dictator for disagree with him. As for the WMD's, they actually found some of these weapons, just not as much as they thought, however, there are 500,000 pounds of weapons still missing which were believed to have been shipped to Syria.
As for gas, government officials from our democratic controlled house and congress regulate oil prices, not the President or the Vice-President. (Nice try though)
And last but not least, if you consider having discussions with terrorists harboring countries such as Iran and Syria, then yes, I guess Obama is going to hunt down terrorists from al Qaeda and those who support them. (Although I think he wants to have dinner not eleminate the threat)
No I don't agree with everything President Bush has done, but I sure am glad that he was President and not Al Gore or John Kerry. By the way, he was the majority owner of the Texas Rangers and it took me ten minutes to type this.
Yes, I did read the entire blog, and yes I did see it was from Maine, which is why I asked HER if she had read it before she cut and pasted it. It's full of misinformation and scare tactics, but that seems to be par for the course for Bush supporters.
Yes, my answer was heavy on Obama websites because I was rebutting comments made about what he did and didn't say. I put transcripts from speeches that weren't taken out of context so others could read the actual words said.
You do realize that the Iraqi freedom isn't free at all? Their constitution even states that the document cannot overrule Islamic ideals. Some girls can be educated, but the system is collapsing around the country, so neither boys nor girls even bother to go. Teachers are murdered because they don't give good grades. Women are still killed for not adhering to Islamic fundamentalist rules. Great that Saddam is gone, but a new evil replaced the old, and now we can't leave because the country will implode.
Since the war in Iraq started, close to 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed. That's an estimate. We've lost over 4,000 of our own. For what? WMDs that didn't exist? You forgot to mention the parts were from 1991 and that Iraq *may* have been looking to start WMD building if/when the UN lifted the sanctions. There weren't any WMD threat found. None.
I stand by my comment that Bush and Cheney both have ties to the oil business. They may not outright make the prices, but their friends do. I notice you had no comment about Cheney keeping over 30 million dollars from his old company when he decided to run for VP. Isn't that a conflict of interest? I never said Bush and Cheney control the prices.
Bush was not majority owner of the Rangers, and even if he was what difference would that make? Oooh, he was a C-average student at Yale (and a legacy at that), was denied entry into Havard, worked a couple of jobs Bush Sr. got him, a failed bid for the House of Representatives, a coke addict, and had a small stake in a baseball team. As for the history of him owning the Rangers, he first had 1.8%. Hmm, no where near majority. Oh, then later he was given (not bought, given) another 10%. I wasn't a math major, but 11.8% is not a majority, is it?
Ten minutes, huh? It shows. I also notice you don't really have any sort of rebuttal. Next time maybe you should use your ten minutes to do some research before wasting your time saying nothing. I'm sure the hundreds of thousands of people losing their homes, jobs, and family members in Iraq are glad Bush is president, too.
Oh, and as for your comment about having freedom here, why don't you take a look at the Homeland Security again? Then let me know how much freedom we still have left.
Do your research. Bush did get into Harvard Business....he was only the second President ever to get into Harvard. If you think things suck here...why don't you go to Iran and see how you like it there. There dictator endoreses Obama as well, so does the leaders of al Qaeda. Sure we have lost 4,000 but we lost almost that many on September 11th. Thank God Barack Obama wasn't President then because I am sure he would have wanted to have peace talks then as well. All the while they fly planes into every other building we have.
Bush and Cheney's friends control oil prices? You are showing your ignorance....I am sure that once someone else takes office gas will go back to $1.29 a gallon....not.
By the way how many times have you been to Iraq? Our liberal media wants you to think that things are worse over there. They are far better. Ask anyone who has been....
What does Homeland security have to do with freedom of speech? Nice one there.
I sure am sorry to upset you, but I bet you will be even angrier when John McCain gets elected because Barack doesn't have a chance and the democrats know it. Have a great day and make sure you watch the blogs constantly so that you can offer a rebuttal as soon as someone disagrees with you. (I spent two minutes on this one.)
Oh. My. Gosh. I am soooo sick of the term "liberal media." Can you all not think of something else to blame?
I wrote Harvard LAW school in my first response. Forgive me for shortening it to just Harvard in my second. Oh, and five former presidents went to Harvard for undergrad. Bush was, in fact, one of two that got into Harvard for graduate work, but he went to the business school whereas Rutherford B. Hayes went to law school there.
As usual, people like you allow their discussions to turn into "if you don't like it here, then go <insert country here>," slams. I was born here, I've paid taxes since I was 15, I've voted since I was 18, and I'm very grateful to be an American. Nope, I'm staying, but thanks for the suggestion.
Better in Iraq? Oh, how you do make me laugh! I've talked to soldiers that have been and it's terrible over there. Every day our soldiers and their civilians are being blown to bits by roadside bombs, so explain to me how that is better?
Homeland Security, for your information, tried to take away our Constitutional rights in the guise of the Patriot's Act. That's the little bit of paper that our government is using to 1)take away our freedom of speech 2)allow unreasonable search and seizures 3)allow the military to ignore the Geneva Convention. It is constantly being fought in the court system, and the justices keep shooting it down. I suggest you google it for more information.
How am *I* ignorant in putting 2 and 2 together in the oil scam? Bush and Cheney haven never hidden their oil ties. For heaven's sake, Cheney kept over $30 million dollars when he became VP from his company! How is an elected government official supposed to do what's right for all of us when getting that sort of money? It screams favoritism.
The funniest thing about this whole discussion is I have never said who I support. I never wrote I was an Obama supporter or a McCain supporter, but because I dared to give examples of how the Bush administration has messed up as well as cleared up some false Obama information, you automatically assume I'm not only a Democrat, but that I'm voting for Obama. Oh, and I'm a liberal, too. Amazing how that works, eh?
I especially love your last sentence. You do the same, because you just spout the typical arguments without basis in fact when someone disagrees with you. Oh, and don't forget the name calling. :)
I also love your dismissal of the over 4,000 soldiers lost in Iraq. I think that is my all time favorite. Yep, good thing no one else but Bush was president then, because they might have heeded the warnings given all summer that it was going to happen, and then where would we be? Oh, yea, not in war and the Towers would still be there...
And really, the joke about the time you spent in your "rebuttal" is old. Thanks for playing, though. :)
scarfyrre: You should read the article (on the home page) of the interview with Gen. Rick Lynch, who just himself returned from Iraq. He had positive things to say about his time spent in Iraq, that for some reason the liberal media will not report, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know our media IS liberal!! You shouldn't be so negative....there are alot of great things happening over there.
lots of words Scarfyrre.
How well versed you are to be so off base about what really matters and what MUST be done.
my point: Our Nation has been attacked. We know who attacked. We cannot allow that to happen again.
Are you so blinded that you cannot see? Bush is a good man, he doesn't want war any more than you or me. Simply put, had we not gone there, they would have returned here.
WMA...? so easy to hide I think I could have done it myself.
I'm quite sick of people treating "OUR PRESIDENT" with disrespect! What Congress did he have to work with?
Look how tolerant people were of Clinton, a total embarrassment to all people of decency. The only glory days Clinton laid claim to were a result of accommplishments made by our dear President Reagan! Then Bush has to clean up after Clinton. I respect our President, even when not in agreement with him. As much as I would like to see our soldiers return home, I feel that we should have struck harder & faster. Wars will be fought abroad or on our shores. which do you prefer? I'm afraid we missed our best chance at saving our country when Mr. Romney left the race. A man of personal faith, with business ethics and a great ability to lead. I believe President Bush did the best with what the lot he inherited. Hopefully McCain will bring structure & peace to our world again. I dare say you would have failed miserably had you been faced with the deliemna of Presidency. I would guess you'd have voted for Hilary. What do you think happened to that Foster fella in the Clinton White House?
Wonder what might happen to Obama if Hilary was VP??
I shudder when I think of Obama in office, what a farce, actually scares me. Worse than Gore or Kerry... I just didn't think that was possible!
With your mind, I sure wish you would get informed on local Politics... we've got a mess on our hands around here!anyway, respect is in order ... what a valiant effort given by or President. I wish him well. You too.
No, I wouldn't vote for Senator Clinton. Nope, no way.
That's as far as I'm going with discussing my upcoming vote.
My biggest problem with everything that has gone on before the tragedy of 9/11 is the lying. It's come out people knew an attack was imminent, but it was ignored. Like you, I will never forget that day for as long as I live. I remember calling friends that lived in NY looking for them. Having another friend crying into the phone because he couldn't find his brother.
We started out looking for Osama, then there's talk of WMDs in Iraq, so our interests moved there. None were found. Do I agree Saddam was a horrible, evil little man and needed to be stopped? Yes. It smacks of another lie told to us in the midst of our fear and anger over 9/11.
Something I've been thinking about the last couple of days is this: Every administration before has messed up in dealing with these other countries. Bush is just the last of a long line. Remember Reagan and the Iran-Contra scandal?
I don't believe I said anything disrespectful about President Bush. To be honest, I don't respect him in the least because he and his administration just keeps making mistake after mistake. Bush Sr. even wrote in a book discussing going after Saddam and predicted exactly what has happened (Chapter 19 of A World Transformed).
Your comments about Reagan and Bush tell me you're a staunch Republican. :) So pretty much anything I say will be dismissed no matter how much I reference and research, so I'm going to leave this discussion. I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I'm an American who looks to vote for the people that will work for the citizens. All I want is OUR country fixed, which means better education funding, health care for all citizens, and peace.
I do have one last question, though. If the president was so worried about the tyranny of Saddam, why aren't we helping Africa? Several countries are having a genocide party, yet we do nothing there?
Thanks for the compliment about getting involved in local government. I fear, however, I wouldn't fit in because I'm neither liberal or conservative. I'd never get any votes, and I'd end up just arguing with the people we have now and just get myself all frustrated. I will, however, continue to vote. :)
Actually we are in Africa. It's mostly special operations, but if you read the news, every once in a while you will hear about it. It is not always in the best interest of our soldiers to broadcast their location.
As far as fixing our country, there is no one person who is going to be able to fix it. Our country went downhill when it changed it's priorities from God and family and placed them on homosexuality and hollywood.
I love it. The liberal media and liberal left-wing whackos are going to have a field day holding their breath and stomping their feet over this bit of satire. Idiots.
